The Caucasus Institute (CI) was hired by UNDP Armenia to conduct an assessment and design development scenarios for the Goris community within the framework of the project Strengthening Stability and Resilience of the Bordering Communities in Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and Syunik Regions. The project represented a joint UNDP–UNICEF effort to advance stability and safety in the bordering communities of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik regions, which were directly affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The goal of the CI study was to identify key vulnerabilities and strengthen community resilience in the post-war context. The CI team traveled to Goris (February 15–18) to conduct meetings, interviews, focus groups, and site visits. Based on the combined results of fieldwork and desk research, the team compiled a Community Mapping Report. In March, the CI organized Foresight Sessions in Goris to develop future scenarios based on the community’s needs. At the end of the project, the CI team developed an Indicative Action Plan based on the findings from the community resource mapping and foresight sessions.
